Corpus Christi Procession in our Parish

Published on June 12, 2023
On Thursday 8th June the annual Corpus Christi processional walk in Doora-Barefield saw about 80 pilgrims join together to bring to life this Catholic tradition. Great anticipation was felt for the unveiling of our new canopy that was so beautifully crafted. Recent first communicants were invited and present, for the 4 km walk from St. Josephs well on the Gort Road to Barefield Church of the Immaculate Conception.
During the ceremony, the Parish was consecrated to the Immaculate Virgin Mary by Fr. Tom who carried the Blessed Sacrament in a monstrance, blessing the homes, people and businesses en route as the procession passed. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of the Vatican and Parish flag, as well as Eucharistic banners and lights carried by altar servers. It was wonderful to have a large contingent from the Polish community. Thanks to the organisation committee Séan McMahon, Anne Kelly, David Cahill, Helena Killoughery, Dominik Peer, Cora Burke, Séamus Enright, Karen Clancy and especially to Fr. Tom for his service.
